1) Sept. 11, U.S. federal agents seized $65 million dollars, cash, during a multiple site / multiple warrant service operation. The cash was mainly in crisp, U.S. $100 dollar bills, stacked in cardboard boxes. Some was located in a mansion in the Bel Air district of Los Angeles. The remainder was picked up at garment import/export and manufacturing sites in the L.A. area. Various of suspects were arrested; some hailing from Mexico; others were U.S. citizens or immigrants hailing originally from S. Korea, China, and the Middle East.

Mexican authorities, in coordination with this U.S. operation, are seeking a number of lawyers in the Guadalajara, Jalisco area, who reputedly work for the Sinaloa Cartel. Most of the laundered cash was property of the Sinaloa Cartel, and some was reported to belong to the Caballeros Templares (Templar Knights - Michoacán) Cartel.

2. For the first time, coca plants have been discovered being grown for harvest in southern Mexico. The coca plant is the prime source for the production of cocaine. This is a "game change," as it had not been cultivated and produced (cocaine) in Mexico before. Source countries for the coca plant are typically Bolivia, Peru and Colombia.

3. Violence is increasing in Tijuana, BC, Mexico and the B.C. peninsula, as the Beltran-Leyva Cartel, the Sinaloa Cartel and the Arrellano-Felix (aka: Tijuana Cartel) Organization have begun battling it out for turf, and control of the criminal activity in the area. It goes way beyond drug trafficking, these days. It includes: kidnapping (assisted by local policia); extortion; border banditry / rip crews; alien smuggling; weapons trafficking; money laundering, to name a few.
